FAQs & Help

Answers to the most common questions.

To help you get started, we’ve got answers to the most common questions. If you have questions and cannot find the answer here, please get in touch with us on 01483 204 828.

Q1: What power supply do I need to install my cooker?

Please ensure your fitters refer to the fitters guide before installation.

Ceramic and Induction models may be connected to a suitable 6mm cable with a 32-amp breaker (providing the isolator switch, which turns the power on and off to the cooker, does not incorporate a 13 amp socket). However to provide greater flexibility, we recommend a 10mm cable with a 45 amp breaker.

Note:
These are guidelines and other factors may alter the cable/breaker power. Therefore we cannot provide electrical information as the qualified electrician has to make calculations based on what is around the cooker e.g. boilers etc.

Q2: What's the difference between an AGA and a Rayburn?

The Rayburn, made by AGA in the same factory in Shropshire, shares many great features with AGA cookers, such as radiant heat cooking and a beautiful coating, but there are a few differences.

Rayburn cookers are available as cooking only, cooking and hot water or cooking, hot water and central heating models, to provide a solution for all your household needs in one appliance, whereas modern AGA appliances are designed to offer cooking only.

In addition, Rayburn cookers are available in more fuel types, such as oil, HVO, gas and electric. They also offer controls which operate the ovens more like a conventional cooker, unlike the pre-set temperature zones of the AGA.

Q3: What fuel types are available for Rayburn cookers?

Fuel choice is becoming increasingly important so there are range of fuel options to choose from when you buy a Rayburn. Appliances are available in propane gas, natural gas, kerosene oil, HVO and electric fuels:

• Oil: 400 series, 600 series, 308K and Heatranger 60,80, 100 models
• HVO (95% Hydrogenised Vegetable Oil) compatable models: Heatranger 60,80,100
• Gas: 480AG, 480AL
• Electric: Rayburn Ranger®

Q4: Are Rayburn applicances HVO (hydrogenised vegetable oil) compatible?

HVO (95% Hydrogenised Vegetable Oil) fuel is 100% renewable and is invaluable in helping the UK achieve its net zero carbon target, reducing up to 90% of net CO2 emissions.

The Rayburn Heatranger has HVO-compatible burners making the appliance eco-friendly, carbon-free and future-ready. A conversion kit is necessary when operating on HVO which can be requested by the installer.

Q5: Are Rayburn appliances carbon free?

The Rayburn Heatranger 60,80,100 has HVO (95% Hydrogenised Vegetable Oil) compatible burners making the appliance eco-friendly, carbon-free and future-ready. A conversion kit is necessary when operating on HVO which can be requested by the installer.

Q6: How often should a Rayburn be serviced??

Depending on the model of your Rayburn, servicing should be carried out once or twice a year by a fully trained Rayburn engineer.

Rayburn Ranger models do not require regular servicing.

Q7: Can I cook without running the central heating?

Yes, all Rayburn central heating models are independently controllable so the boiler and ovens can be operated separately.

Q8: What happens in a power cut when a Rayburn is in use?

All Rayburn appliances are dependent on electricity for burner and system pumps operation and so will not operate in a power cut. They will need to be re-set once the power supply is reconnected.

Q9: Why do I get pools of water inside the ovens?

It is common for water to pool inside the ovens, even when you are cooking at a high temperature, due to high moisture content within the ovens when cooking food. To reduce pooling, we recommend using a lid on any cooking vessels to retain moisture or alternatively, wrapping food in foil.
